Small Boat Racing
Lightning Fleet 233
Ford Yacht Club is the home of Lightning Fleet 233. Lightning sailboats
are the reason there is a lightning bolt in the club burgee, this was the
first class of boats sailed out of FYC when it was founded. Currently FYC has 10 Lightnings on the grounds that dry sail and race. We are looking to grow the fleet with
more boats and crew. If you are interested contact the FYC
Race Committee for more information.
Looking to buy a lightning, check out the class website at
Force 5 Fleet #107 Ford Yacht Club is also host to the local Grosse Ile Force 5 fleet #107. With almost 10 boats in the area, this is an easy way to get out racing as you don’t need to find crew… just get in a boat and race. Great racing for any level of experience and great fun is always to be had with this fleet. For more information, check out the class website at http://force5.us/main/

Family Learn to Sail
2015 will be the beginning of the Ford Yacht Club Family Learn to Sail
Program. The goal of the program is to increase knowledge in the sport of sailing and sailboat racing to both youth and adults. The classes will take place using
the historic Lightning Sailboat that
has been a cornerstone of FYC dating back to the founding of the club.
In order to get the program off and running, we are currently running a “Buy a Brick” fundraiser. This fundraiser will raise funds to buy training
boats, safety boats and other needed improvements/equipment as needed
to promote a safe learning environment.
Please visit http://www.thatsmybrick.com/fordyachtclub to help support the program!
